As part of the Building Ecosystems for Youth Mental Health and Well-being project, young leaders fro ...
m the University of Education came together to explore mental health through a holistic lens—understanding well-being, strengthening their knowledge of mental health, and learning how advocacy can drive meaningful change. More importantly, they transformed these discussions into action by designing community-based advocacy plans to address the mental health needs of young people.
We were also honoured to be joined by Madam Rushda Lodhi, whose insightful discussion with participants highlighted the importance of policy support, youth engagement, and collective action in advancing mental health and well-being. Her encouragement reinforced a powerful message: when young people are equipped with knowledge, skills, and a platform to lead, they become catalysts for systemic change.
This training was more than a learning experience—it was the beginning of a growing movement of youth advocates committed to building communities where mental health is understood, prioritized, and supported.
💚 The conversation doesn’t end here. It’s only the beginning.

ncourage them to seek care. Yet when someone shares that they’re feeling mentally exhausted, anxious, or overwhelmed, they’re often met with responses like “Bas sabr karo,” “Itna mat socho,” or “Sab theek ho jayega.” Mental health deserves the same understanding, compassion, and access to support as physical health.
Through the Building Ecosystems for Youth Mental Health and Well-being project, we are working to create an enabling environment where young people feel safe to speak openly about their mental health, advocate for themselves and others, and contribute to meaningful systems and policy change. Because advocacy begins not only with raising awareness, but with transforming the way we listen, respond, and act.
What is one change you believe our society needs to make to create a more supportive conversation around mental health? 💚
