BARGAD in collaboration with GC University Faisalabad (GCUF) organized a three-day National Youth Conference on Democracy, Islam and Terrorism - Challenges and Solutions on January 29-31, 2010 at the GCUF. 300 students and young faculty members from 25 universities of Pakistan participated in this conference.
Notables among those who participated in proceedings of the conference included Vice Chancellors Dr. Shahid Mehboob Rana (GCUF), Dr Nizam uddin (University of Gujrat), Dr Riaz ul Haq Tariq, (University of Faisalabad) and Dr. Muhammad Akram (University of Sargodha) and experts from vaious fields Lt. Gen (R) Khalid Maqbool, Sahibzada Fazal-e-Kareem, Nazir Naji, Dr Khalid Zaheer, Mohammad Tahseen, Dr. Ishaq Qureshi, Iqbal Haider Butt, Dr. Ghazala Irfan and Ayra Inderyas.
The delegates of the National Youth Conference worked in groups to come up with recommendations on Democracy and Islam and Youth and Terrorism in Pakistan.
Research papers were also presented during the conference. An artwork gallery was exhibited which included Artwork by Internally Displayed Persons (IDPs) of Buner and posters by students from different universities of Pakistan. A documentary on Madressahs produced by journalist Azmat Abbas was also shown to the conference delegates.
