Democracy in Pakistan has confronted tough resistance not only from the authoritarian regimes but many are also uneasy to see how it has been distorted as a social practice and the links of democracy with everyday practices in public sphere are obscure. Pakistani university campuses are one such site where student activism often has led to clashes among student groups and ordinary students have to suffer. Democracy and Peace-building for Youth on University Campuses is a due effort that relies on informed student participation and improvement in non-academic programming and the resolve to peaceful campuses. The project is an advocacy and capacity building initiative to prepare youth leadership for democracy and peaceful university campuses in Pakistan. It aims to inculcate democratic norms among students through training, dialogues, and discussions. The project envisions peaceful co-existence in campuses while positive student activism is in place. The said Project is being done with the support of National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
